More than 3,000 applications are affected by this massive data leak. In total, no less than 30 million identifiers were published on an online forum.

As reported by the American media Wiredthe geolocation data management company Gravy Analytics was the victim of a massive data leak. In total, the hacker allegedly got his hands on 7 billion identifiers, while a sample of 30 million identifiers was published on a Russian hacker forum.

As of this writing, this important sample has been removed from the Russian forum. We do not know if this sample was purchased by a third party entity or by the Gravy Analytics company itself.

To be more precise, we are not talking about identifiers which take the form of names. The identifiers affected by this data leak constitute small points which allow people to be traced and geolocated via their smartphone. However, by mobilizing different data leaks, it is entirely possible to draw up a relatively complete profile of a person.

Several particularly famous applications are affected by this huge data leak. We can notably cite: Tinder, Grindr, 9GAG, MooveIt, Flightradar24, Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Finance, Candy Crush, Temple Run, Subway Surfers, Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells, Tumblr, Kik, Muslim Pro, Bible apps, MyFitnessPal, My Period Calendar & Tracker or even Call of Duty mobile version.

In addition to the games mentioned above, several thousand mobile games are affected. We also find health-related apps like My Period Calendar and MyFitnessPal. You can find the complete list of applications affected by this data leak by following this link.

Unsurprisingly, this major data leak is worrying. As Reuters reports, in the United States, the Federal Trade Commission fears that this leaked geolocation data could be used for harassment, blackmail and espionage.
