70 young participants celebrate the success of the “Internet & Code for girls” course
On Friday January 10, 2025, 70 girls aged 9 to 11 received their certificates for the course “Internet & Code for girls”. The ceremony, organized at the HES-SO Valais-Wallis, marked a highlight for these students, who learned the basics of computing and programming over 11 Saturdays, from September to December 2024.
Personalities such as Luciana Vaccaro, rector of the University of Applied Sciences of Western Switzerland, Farnaz Moser, director of the EPFL scientific promotion department, and François Seppey, director of the HES-SO Valais-Wallis, were present to celebrate this accomplishment.
From theory to practice: websites and graphic projects
With the support of students from HES-SO and EPFL, the participants created their own websites and graphic projects. The aim of the program was to build young girls’ confidence in their abilities and encourage them to consider a career in information and communication technologies (ICT).
A joint initiative against the talent shortage
