According to testimonies collected by The Sun, a “very dangerous” inmate lit a fire in his cell before barricading himself inside.

When the inmate was finally taken out of his cell, he was unconscious. The detainee would have regained consciousness in the hospital, before being plunged into an artificial coma.

A request for assistance from firefighters, paramedics and an MSA team was also reportedly made. The MSA team is made up of correctional officers equipped with breathing apparatus to respond to fires.

Possible escape?

A check should be carried out to find out if the detainee has sufficient external resources to set up an escape from the hospital, underlines an agent at the Soleil.

The inmate is currently guarded by two officers. Additional staff could be added after he wakes up.

According to the agent, the inmate in question allegedly said “want to kill a correctional officer before January 31.” He also allegedly verbalized with fellow inmates “wanting to take correctional officers hostage very soon.”
