The fast-growing data market

China’s data market jumped 30% in 2024, reaching 160 billion yuan ($22.26 billion), according to the National Data Administration.

The “Data East, Compute West” initiative, aimed at strengthening processing capabilities in China’s interior regions, continues to progress, with more than 2.11 million server racks operational, a figure doubled in one year. By 2025, 60% of computing power should come from new centers using 80% green electricity.
