These results were highlighted by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Lê Minh Hoan, during an interview with the correspondent of the Vietnam Information Agency. He also highlighted the importance of this year as a pivotal period for the completion of the 2021-2025 Socio-Economic Development Plan.
The minister attributed these successes to the combined efforts of farmers, businesses and all stakeholders involved in the agricultural and rural development sector. These performances reflect not only resilience in the face of climate challenges, but also the potential for sustainable development for years to come.
The successes of the agricultural sector in 2024 also reflect the dynamism of localities, which have transformed their approach to agricultural production into a strategy focused on the agricultural economy. This development has strengthened farmers’ understanding that production must be driven by market demands.
Localities have played a key role not only in guiding production, but also in ensuring better connection with markets. This proactive approach has helped remove bottlenecks in the production and distribution chain, thereby promoting more balanced and sustainable growth.
In 2024, many festivals and trade fairs have been organized in different regions to promote agricultural products. Major events took place in localities such as Son La, Hung Yen, Hai Duong, as well as the Central Highlands and Southeast regions. These initiatives have helped to boost trade, promote local products and strengthen their presence on national and international markets.
The minister highlighted the importance of close coordination between ministries, sectors, localities, industrial associations and farmers in the agricultural market development strategy. He stressed the need to strengthen traditional markets while actively working to open up new outlets.

In 2024, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development continued its efforts to promote trade and expand access of Vietnamese products to new markets. These initiatives include the removal of technical and trade barriers through bilateral and multilateral negotiations, the consolidation of traditional markets and major export destinations, including China, the United States, the European Union (EU), Russia , Brazil, Japan and the Republic of Korea, exploring new potential markets, particularly in the Halal products sector, for Muslim countries, the Middle East and Africa.
Although the agricultural sector faces many challenges, it has immense potential and arouses legitimate optimism, said the minister. So far, its growth has far exceeded the target for the entire 2021-2025 period. The agricultural sector should direct its tasks for the next term to accelerate and achieve new breakthroughs in the era of national progress.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has chosen as the theme for the year 2025: “Flexible adaptation – Liberation of resources – Acceleration of breakthroughs”. This theme is not limited to a simple message of action, but also reflects the strong determination of the entire sector to meet challenges and seize opportunities to reach new heights.
Flexible adaptation is the way to overcome difficulties and take advantage of new opportunities. The release of internal and external resources is the driving force for growth and sustainable development. The acceleration of breakthroughs aims to go far and gradually assert the position of domestic agricultural products.
