That’s it, the suspense is over! After several weeks of passionate deliberations, the 60 jurors of the prestigious “Car of the Year” 2025 prize have decided: it is the Renault 5 E-Tech city car, which wins the coveted title of car of the year 2025.

The Renault 5 E-Tech scored an excellent 10/10 on Frandroid, it is extremely rare that we give this perfect score.

This rating was carefully considered by the editorial staff, because the car excels in all aspects without making compromises, which is very rare in this segment. It offers a particularly successful neo-retro design that turns heads, advanced technologies usually reserved for higher segments (such as Android Automotive, semi-autonomous driving and V2G), a chassis that is both comfortable and dynamic, and excellent autonomy. going up to 410 km, and above all a very aggressive price starting from 25,000 euros.

The Car of The Year award, although still prestigious, has lost its luster in recent years and is now akin to a sort of automobile Eurovision.

The jurors from different European countries tend to favor their national manufacturers, which creates biases in the votes – we remember in particular the impressive scores of the French, Spanish or German brands when the jurors from these countries are in charge.
