As winter temperatures set in in France, prices for domestic fuel oil are increasing. A new increase is added to those observed in recent days, penalizing many homes still dependent on this method of heating.
This Monday, January 6, ordinary fuel oil is priced at 1.146 euros per liter, according to the specialized site Prixfioul.fr. As for premium fuel oil, it is sold on average at 1.165 euros per liter. Whether for ordinary or superior, the prices observed this Tuesday are up by around three euros per order of 1,000 liters compared to those recorded during the days of Sunday and Monday.
For its part, the Fioulreduc site displays an average price of 1.140 euros per liter. According to this online comparator also, today’s rate is up five euros per 1,000 liters compared to Monday. Finally, on the Fioulmarket site, fuel oil is sold for 1,151 euros on average for a purchase of 1,000 liters. Also on this specialized platform, today’s price is up by around two euros compared to that recorded the day before.
Where to find the cheapest domestic fuel oil in France this Tuesday?
According to the Fioulreduc platform, which compares the prices of domestic fuel oil between regions, it is still in Franche-Comté that we find the lowest price in France this Tuesday, with 1,114 euros on average for a purchase of 1000 liters . Conversely, it is in Champagne-Ardenne that the price is the highest in France, with 1,173 euros for an order of 1000 liters. Thus, the difference in prices between Franche-Comté and Champagne-Ardenne amounts to 59 euros for an order of 1000 liters.
The price of domestic fuel oil recorded a further increase, a direct result of a simultaneous increase in demand and the price of crude oil on international markets. With the arrival of cold waves, demand for domestic heating is increasing sharply, particularly in Europe, where many households continue to heat with oil. This surge in consumption automatically pushed prices upwards, increasing pressure on households already facing high energy bills.
On the oil market, the main global indices are showing rising prices, reinforcing this trend. According to Prixdubaril data, North Sea Brent, the global benchmark for oil prices, stabilized at $76.15 per barrel. For its part, the West Texas Intermediate (WTI), the main American index, stood at $73.34 per barrel. This recovery in crude prices, observed in recent days, is explained in particular by fears of tensions on supply, fueled by difficult climatic conditions and geopolitical uncertainties.
