Let's start by setting the context which, for once, turns out to be more than favorable for our household budgets: the average price of a fiber optic Internet subscription has dropped significantly! After the peaks reached last winter, here it is a year later at almost €6 less per month! The price barometer for this month of January is clear: we went from more than €32 to only €26.61 monthly, a reduction of 17.8%, or a saving of almost €70 per year!
But while the category of 1st price Boxes, delivered without decoder, is gaining market share, some die-hard fans refuse to deprive their subscribers of TV and succeed in offering entry-level subscriptions that are both comprehensive and inexpensive. And in this game, there are two of them to do well…
And the winner is… Free ?!
It seems that Free's policy is to always do more than the others. To resist the pricing pressure of its low-cost competitors, it offers its Freebox Revolution Light in “Special Series” version, thus making it benefit from 10€ discount for a year, and making her:
- has only €19.99/month, the cheapest Box with TV on the market the 1st year all categories combined,
- et the cheapest Box over 2 years at €27.03/month (monthly cost smoothed over 24 months, possible activation costs included).
We then inherit from1 Gb/s download speed (distributed in Wi-Fi 5), anda TV decoder with Blu-ray player and 250 GB hard drive. Thanks to it, we access via the OQEE interface the most generous TV package on the market, i.e. 230 channels and replay services, and we take advantage of the SVoD free from Free via OQEE Ciné. Who else does this?!
But there's more: as a welcome, Free adds 1 month of free access to the MAX streaming platform, and 3 months of subscription to the Cafeyn application, the digital press and magazine kiosk.
“Free or SFR ? That’s the question !”
At SFR, the Starter Box is a little more expensive: count around thirty euros per month, but it is a fixed price, et activation fees are free to celebrate the new year (that's still €49 in savings!). And then, the quality and service are there…
- in addition to unlimited telephony to landlines in France and internationally, it adds unlimited calls to mobiles in mainland France,
- the upstream speed is 1 Gb/s it too, and not 600 Mb/s, and the connection is guaranteed for the 1st month by the loan of a pocket 4G Box (optional later),
- owners of a SFR and RED by SFR mobile plan will also be entitled to 200 GB of additional data during connection,
- Besides, with SFR Multi, combining one or more mobile plans with your Internet subscription will allow you to obtain up to €20 reduction per line, to share up to 100 GB, to have €5 reduction on a 2nd Freebox subscription or on the Home offer secure.
SO : “Free, or SFR ? That’s the question ! “. We'll let you decide, we couldn't decide.
