Swiss plane landed in Austria: a crew member died

Last Monday, December 23, an Airbus A220-300 of the Swiss company which linked Bucharest to Zurich was forced to land in Graz in Austria because of smoke in the cabin and in the cockpit. A total of 74 passengers were on board. About ten required treatment. Two crew members were hospitalized. One of which is in intensive care.

Swiss announces this evening that the latter has unfortunately died: “Today is a black day for Swiss,” writes the company. It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of a dear colleague, following the emergency landing of LX1885 on December 23, 2024. In these difficult times, our thoughts and our deepest compassion go to the loved ones and friends of our dear colleague.”

Jens Fehlinger, CEO of Swiss, also speaks: “This news leaves us sad and distraught. On behalf of all Swiss employees, I would like to express my most sincere condolences to the bereaved family. We are doing everything in our power to support them during these extremely difficult times.”

On social networks, Swiss changed its logo, in a black and white version, as a sign of mourning.
