Nearly 1.5 million French people have already been victims of investment scams for an average loss of 29,000 euros, according to a survey commissioned by the Financial Markets Authority (AMF).

And this type of scam continues to spread, to the point that Crédit Agricole was forced to broadcast a warning message, reports the Moneyvox website.

A fraud targeting entrepreneurs

A fake savings account campaign promises attractive returns with an interest rate of 5.25% and a welcome bonus of 250 euros. But behind this attractive offer lies a well-crafted scam, which aims to deceive entrepreneurs.

The scam comes in the form of a “Super booklet” offered in the name of “Propulse by CA”, a legitimate offer from Crédit Agricole, but which does not include any savings product, as the bank specifies. The goal of the fraudsters is to convince their victims to pay an initial deposit, supposedly necessary to open this fictitious booklet. “Once the money has been transferred by the victims, the fraudsters disappear with the funds, leaving the victims without recourse and with significant financial losses,” details Crédit Agricole on the home page of its site.

“More refined” scams

Marie-Anne Barbat-Layani, president of the AMF, noted: “There was a time when scams were easily spotted. Today they are more and more refined, based on building trust among people and therefore increasingly difficult to identify. »

Crédit Agricole therefore insists on the vigilance that must be adopted when faced with this type of offer. “This product does not exist and any promotion on this subject is an attempt at fraud,” insisted the bank.
