Barely marketed (end of October), the game “Who will be the liar” from the YouTuber Michou had sparked controversy due to sexual connotations of certain cards… even though the game indicated a label “from seven years old”.
On December 29, the game was finally removed from sale. And this Thursday, January 2, 2025, the government platform gave another layer: a recall procedure is launched throughout France, until the end of the month.
“The age of the audience targeted for the game [n’est] not appropriate »
The reason for this massive withdrawal? Prevent the broadcast of a game presenting a “moral hazard linked to the contents of the box game not suitable for children aged seven and over,” indicates the alert issued by RappelConso.
After a production problem, around ten cards are not for children. The age of the audience targeted for the game [n’est] therefore not appropriate.
It must be said that the notoriety of the 23-year-old YouTuber (10.2 million subscribers on its channel) has reinforced the widespread marketing of the game in supermarkets (Carrefour, Auchan, Cora, Hyper U, E.Leclerc, etc.), in toy stores (JouéClub, King Toys, La Grande Récré, etc.) and in culture centers (Decitre bookstore, Fnac) and on Amazon.
“A manufacturing error in the content validation processes”
The game's publisher, Topi Games, had already made its my fault. “We were informed of the presence of inappropriate questions in certain cards of the game “Who will be the liar?”, intended for a young audience”, we can read in the press release published on December 28, 2025.
This situation is due to a manufacturing error in the content validation processes. Topi Games understands the outrage caused by this incident and takes full and complete responsibility for this error. Topi Games deeply regrets the inconvenience and concern it may have caused.
Games Hat also committed to “[rembourser]the game »assures RappelConso. To do this, simply return the product to the point of sale.
