There are still only around fifty of them occupying the immense premises built in record time. But, ultimately, 300 employees will occupy the 35,000 m2 of the Clarins factory just opened in Sainte-Savine, in the Troyes area (Aube). At the height of the construction site, more than a hundred workers were busy meeting deadlines on the 13.5 ha of land acquired by the cosmetics group.
In February 2023, Clarins formalized the choice of Troyes Champagne Métropole, to the detriment of Saint-Quentin (Aisne), for this project worth an estimated 135 million euros. The Troyan site will be the second French production site for the group, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. The first, based in Pontoise (Val-d'Oise), was reaching saturation.
“Our ambitious roadmap provides for the doubling of our production, which today leads us to the deployment of a second site. As a French company, the Clarins group has always chosen to favor made in France and short circuits. This is why we are happy today to announce the upcoming arrival of our new production plant in Sainte-Savine where we will contribute to local employment,” underlined at the time, Jonathan Zrihen, president and director. general of the Clarins group. 93% of Clarins products are made in France.
In complete discretion, the manager went to Aube at the beginning of December to visit the new factory, notably accompanied by Virginie Courtin and Olivier Courtin, respectively general director and chairman of the board of directors of the Clarins group. The factory is therefore in operation and production is expected to ramp up in the coming weeks. A second production line is due to open in the coming days. A third will follow in the second quarter of 2025 and a fourth during the summer of 2025.
When it is operating at full capacity, the factory will house around twenty production lines. Although it had to call on external skills, the group made a point of recruiting as many employees as possible locally. A boon for the region. With this new factory, a small part of Troyes will travel around the world. The Clarins group, which has an annual turnover of almost 2 billion euros and has experienced double-digit growth for several years, is established in 150 countries. 95% of its production is intended for export.
