The Commission of the West African Economic and Monetary Union and the National Union of Chambers of Commerce of Senegal organized, yesterday, the third edition of the “Tremplin Start-up Uemoa” initiative. The theme focused on: “Creative and digital marketing to promote the cultural and creative industries (Icc)”. The initiative aims to encourage business innovation through support for innovative start-ups, with a view to diversifying and densifying the economic fabric of the community area. On this occasion, the start-up “Yombal Sa Soxla Xpress” received its silver trophy which rewards the fourth prize within the UEMOA space. Founded by Mouhamadou Cissé, this Senegalese start-up combines technology and culture, creating smart key rings, interactive works of art…
These products integrate technologies such as QR codes, offering an immersive and connected experience. The company aims to merge traditional art with innovations. Born in 1994 in Yeumbeul, Mouhamadou Cissé is also the CEO of Buss Pro, another company he created in 2019. Passionate about entrepreneurship and innovation, he says he seeks to offer accessible solutions to Senegalese people by combining creativity , technology and promotion of cultural heritage. The objective, he explains, is to revolutionize Senegalese entrepreneurship by integrating advanced technologies into everyday products. Receiving the trophy, the winner welcomed this recognition. “It is a pride to receive this prize as part of the “Tremplin Uemoa”. Digital is an important and promising sector for development. Our initiative aims at this,” appreciates the entrepreneur.
Promoting digital entrepreneurship
Apart from Mouhamadou Cissé, nine other Senegalese entrepreneurs were celebrated. For the Director of the Private Sector at the UEMOA Commission, Khady Évelyne Denise Ndiaye, in the current context of economic crisis, the development of businesses of a new type, such as start-ups, constitutes one of the levers that can promote the creation of dynamic partnerships with the civil society and private sectors in order to improve the quality of service provision for the benefit of our communities in the UEMOA area. In his eyes, the area can count on the creativity of young people. “Your audacity and creativity are the hope of our community space, because they contain a promise: that of a future synonymous with progress, economic and cultural vitality. And if the Union places such hopes in you, it is up to it, in return, to create the essential conditions for the emergence of young shoots, in particular through this initiative for our start-ups,” declares Ms. Ndiaye.
For the president of the Union of Chambers of Commerce, Serigne Mboup, “Tremplin Uemoa” is an event that promotes creativity for the emergence of innovative startups in Senegal. According to him, this is an essential initiative to promote entrepreneurship and strengthen competitiveness. “It promotes the diversification and densification of the industrial ecosystem and demonstrates the commitment of our youth to meet the challenges,” says Mr. Mboup.
For the Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication and the Digital Economy, Fatou Bintou Sall, this is a noble and visionary initiative of the UEMOA Commission which promotes entrepreneurship and values our talents. “The government aims to make digital entrepreneurship a lever for growth and economic development, and start-ups play a crucial role in this regard. These talents will shape the future of our sub-region,” informs Ms. Sall.
