the essential
The local mission in western Aude has just celebrated one year of its innovative system around video games and job searching.
The integration gaming house (GHINS) of the Western Aude Local Mission (MLOA) celebrated its one year anniversary this Thursday at the Odéum. An idea developed by the Local Mission of Pays d'Aix and its director Mathias Davy which won over Jean-Pierre Munich, the director of MLOA. “When I was presented with this project, it was a bit of an encounter in unknown territory”smiles Daniel Iché, the president of the MLOA. A year later, the results are there. The principle is simple: “We realized that certain video games implemented skills that were transferable in the construction of a professional project and the job search”explains Mathias Davy.
In a nice anglicism, these are what we call soft kills: quality of listening, analytical skills, imagination, adaptability, perseverance. “Young people are becoming aware of their potential and regaining confidence”agrees Jean-Pierre Munich. Supported by the State and its youth employment contract, MLOA has invested in an advisor specialized in this area, Nekzioh alias Memet Mengücek, content creator and founder of the production company Geeyuk Production.
It offers three workshops per week. Over the past year, 161 young people have participated in these workshops. Six gaming tournaments (video games) were organized and 40 video capsules, broadcast on the Twitch platform, were produced. And through the MLOA’s “I get involved with young people” charter, certain companies, like Suez or Occitane ready-made meals, have stuck with it. Illustration of this approach, a young person supported by the MLOA created a video game that can be found in the Epic games catalog.
The purpose of the MLOA is to implement all social and professional integration actions aimed at job seekers and primarily young people aged 16 to under 26. She was the second in France to launch into the integration gaming house.
