which will be the most profitable in 2025 after the drop in interest rates?

Where to put your money? Between the LEP and the Livret A, estimates calculate the most profitable in 2025 after the drop in interest rates.

The end of the year is approaching. It is time for many to make resolutions but also to take stock, particularly financial, of 2024. If the economic context has been harsh (this having a harmful impact on the aid provided by retirees to their children and grandchildren ), the transition to 2025 will be an opportunity to generate valuable interest at the bank. We think in particular of booklet Aacclaimed by the French.

From January 1, a sum will be paid into the accounts of savers in this booklet as well as those of the Sustainable and solidarity development booklet (LDDS). It will be calculated based on the interest rate, which was 3% this year: you will therefore have around 30 euros added for 1,000 euros invested. Good to know: even if you have reached the ceiling, set at 22,950 euros, your interests can exceed it and your interests grow according to this addition, year after year. But what will happen in the months to come?

Interest rates: the LEP more profitable than the Livret A?

Last January, the LEP, Popular Savings Booklet, was paid at 6% then increased to 5% on February 1 and to 4% in August. This corresponded to 47.295 euros of interest per year per 1,000 euros. It was therefore more advantageous than the A booklet. According to the estimates of specialists mentioned by the Meilleurtaux Placement site, the rate of this savings account should fall by 1 point in 2025 and rise to 3%.

However, it will still be above Livret A since the latter, like the LDDS, should fall by 0.5 points in February, after a freeze at 3% for a year. This will amount to 2.5% remuneration, or 0.5% less than the LEP.

How to open a popular savings account?

The popular savings account is, however, reserved for low-income households. Annual ceilings and resource conditions are set according to the saver's family situation. You should not exceed 22,419 euros for one share and 34,393 euros for two shares in 2024, based on the reference tax income recorded on your 2023 tax notice.

You had to pay a minimum of 30 euros into the LEP and you could not place more than 10,000 euros there, with free withdrawals and completely tax-free gains and capital, recalls Our Time. This investment is therefore secure and its returns were attractive. It could even be that the government continues by granting a bonus and setting the rate at 3.5%. As a reminder, the 2024 interest rate for the PEL was 2.25%. And it was 2% for the CEL (housing savings account).
