For the past few days, a Facebook page has been offering an attractive offer: “Lignes d'Azur is celebrating its anniversary and is offering a 6-month card for only 2.35 euros for the occasion! Hurry, only 500 cards are available at this special price!”
An offer too good to be true: if the Facebook page uses all the graphic codes of the Nice transport authority (RLA) – logos and fake map to perfection – and can create an illusion, be careful, it's a scam.
From the classic: “ Those who click on the link are redirected to a pirate page where personal banking details are requested. warns Gaël Nofri, president of the Lignes d’Azur network.
A complaint filed by Lignes d’Azur
The management has also filed a complaint and invites “victims to report and contact[elle] for joint action.
This type of scam is not new. “ We file a complaint every month. It's not just in Nice. Fake accounts and fake pages affect many transport companies in all cities in France.”adds the deputy mayor in charge of Transport. Who invites “Everyone to be vigilant”.
This scam would have caused many victims. Just like the one which, last March, and still via Facebook, offered a free six-month subscription to metropolitan buses and trams.
