“Drink, eat, share, have fun. » This is the concept of Chez Marcel, a new place to have a good time at Place Marulaz in Besançon. At the head of the bistro open since December 14, Phil and Jade. The couple already owns the Bonnie Café, located a few steps away. With their new team, they offer charcuterie boards and products “between land and sea”. All washed down with good beers (eight varieties on tap), wines or cocktails.

“Preserve the spirit of Marulaz Square”

Deja vu in Besançon? It is above all the philosophy of the place which makes it unique. “We wanted to maintain the spirit of Place Marulaz, both family-friendly and festive,” explains Phil. So when the opportunity to take over the premises presented itself, he did not hesitate for a second. On the choice of name, he smiles: “Marcel, it’s quite a story… A nod to the birth of our son, 13 months ago, and also to our ancestors, to Jade and me, who had this first name. »

Concerts et DJ set

The decor has been completely redone, the walls broken, different spaces arranged in a cozy and warm atmosphere. Groups have the possibility to book for events (birthday, corporate event, etc.). In terms of entertainment, “we plan at least one event per month, concert or DJ set,” specifies the boss of Chez Marcel. In spring, as soon as the sunny days return, a terrace will reach Place Marulaz, near the fountain, continuing that of the Bonnie Café. A real asset. “With the semi-pedestrianization of rue de Vignier, the work of which is due to be completed in February, the neighborhood is even more pleasant. »

Chez Marcel, 16, place Marulaz in Besançon. Hours for this winter: Tuesday to Saturday, 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.
