The municipal council met around its mayor Francis Laurent last Monday for the last meeting of the year. Pascal Da Silva, deputy mayor, informed the assembly that municipal projects were likely to benefit from aid from the State and the Department. The projects presented are the repair of the roof of the second technical services building and the replacement of lighting in the sports complex. “The energy savings generated by this work would be considerable because lighting in this room is expensive,” said Pascal Da Silva. The work to be carried out is estimated at €29,265, the remainder payable by the municipality (if the subsidies are granted) would be €5,853 excluding tax. Concerning the repair of the roof of the technical services and the adjoining barn, the total cost amounts to €42,850, the remainder payable by the municipality would be €12,855. The council unanimously validated the grant requests.
Thomas Séguinot, deputy in charge of finances, added that in order to settle the current expenses of the secondary budget of schools at the start of the 2025 financial year, it would be necessary to make the partial payment of the 2025 municipal subsidy. He proposed to award an advance of €60,000, validated unanimously.
Isabelle Desmortier, assistant in charge of school affairs, recalled that an educational trip was organized every year for pupils in the upper section of nursery school in the departmental center of Saint-Lary Soulan. The school cooperative of this school is requesting a municipal subsidy of €150 per child, or €3,900 for the 26 students concerned. The council unanimously validated the award of this grant. Two children from the town are educated in the Ulis class (Localized Units for Educational Inclusion) in Ruelle, which has set the distribution of operating costs at €607 per student for the 2023/24 school year. The council unanimously validated the allocation of €1,214 for these two students. The Ruelle college organizes each year a one-week memorial trip related to the theme of the national competition of the Resistance and deportation. Scheduled for February 10 to 15, this trip will concern two students from the town for whom the college is requesting a contribution of €786 per young person. “Considering that the college budget is in balance without our subsidies and that these contributions would go into the common core, I think that it is not wise to propose a global subsidy but possibly to deal on a case by case basis,” commented the mayor. The elected officials unanimously agree with the mayor.
