(Keystone-ATS) Prior to this handover, the Bombardier Global 7500 type aircraft had been checked by flight test specialists from the Federal Office of Armaments and Air Forces, the Confederation announced on Friday, which uses it for the government, departments, federal offices and the army.

The aircraft should be used for the first time by the Federal Air Transport Service in spring 2025. It takes over from the Cessna Citation Excel 560XL.

During the first two years, the new aircraft will be stationed in Payerne, before going to Bern-Belp airport. It will also be used from Berne-Belp for long-haul flights.

Installation of the self-protection system aimed at reducing the risk of threats from man-portable air defense systems is planned for the summer and fall of 2025. The Bombardier Global 7500 will be ready for full use at the end of the year 2025. It will have much greater autonomy and a range of action than other state aircraft in the current fleet.

The device offers around twenty seats, and its acquisition will have cost around a hundred million francs, according to a previous press release.
