Rimini is preparing to host the 42nd edition of Macfrut, an unmissable event for the fruit and vegetable sector, with a particular focus on small fruits.
From May 6 to 8, 2025, the Rimini exhibition center will be the scene of a celebration of the international fruit and vegetable sector during Macfrut 2025. Among the many attractions of this edition, small fruits will benefit from a spotlight special light thanks to the Berry Area, a unique space dedicated to this booming sector. This space will include an exhibition area, a program of interactive events and business opportunities specially designed for companies in the sector.
For several years, Macfrut has paid particular attention to small fruits, like the 2023 edition where the blueberry was chosen as the symbol of the show. More recently, interest in these products was reinforced by a video lesson offered as part of the Macfrut Academy, highlighting the strategic importance of the sector in Mediterranean countries.
Globally, berries are a $40+ billion market, with significant growth across all categories. Strawberries dominate this market, representing more than half of overall production, with an increase of 28% in ten years. Blueberries show a spectacular increase of 128% in cultivated areas over the same period, going from 115,000 hectares in 2014 to 262,000 hectares in 2023. Blackberries record an increase of 6.2% in annual consumption, while that raspberry production has quadrupled in ten years to reach 150,000 tonnes.
The ambition of the Berry Area, designed by Ncx Drahorad in partnership with Macfrut, is to highlight the opportunities offered by this dynamic sector. “It is in this context that the Berry Area of Macfrut 2025 fits, the first entirely dedicated to small fruits within the show,” declares Thomas Drahorad, President of Ncx. According to him, this reserved space will bring together exhibitors, experts and visitors around a rich and varied program.

The Berry Area will consist of two main centers:
- Berry Show : an area dedicated to conferences and presentations by experts, with presentations on trends, innovations and issues in the sector.
- Berry Route : an interactive tour guiding visitors through the stands of companies specializing in small fruits, spread throughout the show.
This initiative is the result of a collaboration between Macfrut, Ncx Drahorad, the Polytechnic University of Marche and Breeding Value. Just a few days after the announcement of this space, several leading companies in the sector have already confirmed their participation, testifying to the attractiveness and strategic importance of this meeting.
Macfrut 2025 promises to be a flagship moment for the small fruit sector, offering players in the sector a unique platform to exchange, innovate and strengthen their position in a growing market.
