Elijah Lubala is a Congolese computer scientist and technology entrepreneur. He is the founder and CEO of Tuma, a company that aims to address the lack of payments infrastructure in high-growth emerging markets.
Created in 2022, Tuma offers its users a simple and fast payment method, transforming their phone into a real payment gateway. Thanks to a strategic partnership with UBA Bank, present in 20 African countries, the start-up facilitates the acceptance of card payments and digital transactions. This innovative solution supports the growth of small traders in particular. Tuma also collaborates with other financial institutions such as Credit Bank Kenya, InTouch, Appiawave, Cellulant and Seerbit.
Elijah Lubala is also the founder of Attila Group, a private investment group created in 2013 and based in the United States. Focused on real estate, technology and capital investments, the group originated in South Africa before establishing its headquarters in New York, USA. In parallel, Elijah is the founder and chief commercial officer of Elie Technologies Corporation, a company dedicated to providing essential products and services, specifically designed to meet the needs of emerging markets.
Elijah Lubala’s entrepreneurial career began in 2007 with the establishment of Sofet Entertainment in South Africa, a specialist event production company, where he served as Commercial Director for two years. Academically, Elijah holds a degree in Computer and Information Science, with a specialization in Business Systems, Application Development and Networking obtained in 2015 from Monash University. After Softet Entertainment, he worked as an executive producer at New Vision Studio. In 2012, he joined the telecoms operator Airtel RDC as a junior software engineer. From 2013 to 2015, he served as a Senior Software Engineer in the Department of Infrastructure and Development in Gauteng Province, South Africa.
Elijah Lubala was distinguished among the elite entrepreneurs of the African continent by joining the prestigious Forbes Africa 30 under 30 ranking in 2017.
