For more than four hours on Monday, federal prosecutors Grégoire Mégevand and Héloïse Rordorf-Braun delivered their indictment, beginning the final phase of the corruption trial in Angola targeting the Geneva oil trading company Trafigura, and three defendants. All are presumed innocent, but their guilt is beyond doubt in the eyes of the Federal Prosecutor’s Office (MPC). The duo meticulously dissected their case, retracing the chronology of the payment of the alleged bribes and linking them to the nine contracts concluded between 2009 and 2011. All this, he said, with all due respect to the “fabulations” and “lucubrations » served by the defense, during the investigation as well as before the Federal Criminal Court, in Bellinzona.
