A pair of Oakley ski goggles with 78% off was the Black Friday offer not to be missed in recent days for a Zurich resident who loves winter sports. But two days after the package was delivered to his home, the man received an email from Digitec Galaxus, in which the online store explained that the price displayed on the site was an error. The customer therefore had the choice between returning the product to the sender or paying an additional 208.10 francs to be able to keep it.
“As I already wore the glasses and threw away the packaging, customer service told me that there was no return possible,” laments the man who remained more than perplexed by the brand’s behavior . And he is not the only one to receive this email. On Trustpilot, which hosts consumer reviews of companies, three comments point in the same direction. “Making merchandise attractive with promotions, then demanding additional payment, is this a new scam from Galaxus?”
Contacted, the online sales site reiterates that it is a system error, which occurred during the entry and adaptation of the prices of the ski and winter sports assortment. “It is certainly unpleasant that affected customers are only informed of the incorrect price after several days. We apologize to them for the inconvenience caused,” said Tobias Heller, spokesperson for Digitec Galaxus. The latter clarified that such pricing errors are very rare.
