Mbane, Dec 26 (APS) – The commune of Mbane, in the department of Dagana (north), has just set up complaints management committees whose objective is to contribute to good territorial governance, within the framework of the implementation of the Senegal River Valley Resilience and Community Development Project (PRDC-VFS).
These complaints management committees were officially installed on Wednesday, in the presence of local elected officials and religious authorities.
“It is a mechanism which consists of strengthening transparency, equity between beneficiaries and project leaders”, explained Babacar Dia, social development expert for this project, at the end of the installation ceremony of the committees of complaints management.
According to Babacar Dia, the objective of these committees is to ensure “good territorial governance” of the PRDC-VFS in the commune of Mbane.
It is also, according to him, a way of allowing people who were traditionally used to resolving conflicts at the village and neighborhood level, to be able to provide solutions to possible community concerns and to definitively resolve conflicts at their level.
“In collaboration with the town hall, we decided to take into account, as part of the implementation of the project, the crucial role that the elders played in resolving these crises to proceed with the formalization of the committees,” a- he indicated.
In the event that a problem fails to find a solution in the villages or neighborhoods, the town hall will be responsible for convening the conflict management committee, in order to be able to discuss the issue with the various officials.
He will also be able to escalate the file to the sub-prefecture level, which will be responsible for processing it with the various services concerned.
