Although we know that the success of the new electric Renault 5 is based on its heritage, Nio's new creation remains troubling.
Spy shots of Chinese giant Nio's third brand, Firefly, were recently revealed in China. The photos published today reveal the side profile of the 100% electric compact car and it strangely reminds us of a little French car…
The car is expected to be officially presented for the first time during the Nio Day to be held in Guangzhou on December 21. We will then know if Chinese espionage is in full swing, because it would be surprising if Nio had developed a car so strangely resembling the Renault 5 in just a few weeks. Afterwards, Renault just had to keep its car a secret rather than do a teaser for almost 12 months, revealing everything there was to know about its line!
Earlier this month, photos of Firefly's interior were leaked. The dashboard adopts a minimalist style, with a steering wheel with slight flats and a fully digital floating dashboard, of course, associated with a central screen. Like who you know again.
The only real difference with the French will in fact be at the very bottom of the order form because the starting price of the Nio would be in the range of 14 to 20,000 euros, or half less than the Renault 5, even in the high hypothesis. Fortunately, the French is protected by European customs fees because the ax did not fall very far.
