On his LinkedIn account, we learn that he trained as a commercial engineer at Ichec and that he previously attended the Berlaymont school. He presents himself in particular as the founder of Mayfair, a concept store (clothing and decoration) to which is added a series of other stores mainly in clothing and jewelry, several of which are near Waterloo.

Watermarks: the shocking arguments of the two candidates to win the day

His immersion in the very particular world of books is therefore a great first for him. Besides, he is well aware that he doesn’t know much about it. A trader in his genes and blood, he is not an intellectual. This is why he called on the essayist and business philosopher Luc De Brabandere to create a literary committee. It is no coincidence that he thought of the latter, who is none other than the brother of his father-in-law, Alain De Brabandere.

When Mehmet Sandurac, aged 38, came to talk to him about his project during a family reunion, Luc De Brabandere immediately expressed his interest in being part of the adventure, he who spent his life “to try to help the generations that follow.” But, he put a condition”doing it with my brother Alain”. The planets aligned very quickly. “Mehmet is someone who listens very well. He trusted me. He is a trader in the noble sense of the word. My brother and I will get started quickly. We will try to set up a board of directors“, explains the essayist.

Moving in February

There is indeed no time to lose. The transfer of activities is planned for December 1st, in order to make the most of the end-of-year holiday period, which is conducive to sales.

As for the move, it is scheduled for February 2025. Filigrees will find a new life in the former BMW showroom, Boulevard de Waterloo, next to the Mayfair store. The space, 1,000 m2, is currently empty. And, there will be separate entrances, as was explained to the Enterprise Court. Just to make it clear that there is no question of making amalgams and putting books on the coffee tables for sale at Mayfair. An argument to which the staff, who voted largely in favor of Mehmet Sandurac (21 votes out of 31 voters), will not have been insensitive. Like that of an investment of 1.5 million to have a store up to date while the one on Avenue des Arts had become “obsolete”according to some employees.

The reasons for the sinking of Filigranes: “I’m very sad but I don’t feel responsible”

To see if the store on Avenue Lepoutre in Ixelles, which is also taken over unlike the one in Knokke, will be entitled to a little freshening up.

In his offer, Mehmet Sandurac also committed to taking over 31 employment contracts and paying 305,000 euros. This amount will be paid to Marc Filipson’s company Intell and will be used to repay debts.

You should also know that in accordance with an agreement signed by the lessor of the building on Avenue des Arts (the Unibra group), the buyer is entitled to compensation of just over one million euros in return for an anticipated move. Which means that Mehmet Sandurac will receive more money than he will spend, at least initially.
