It was a year ago that a few Paviens, led by Corinne Schluck, decided to create an associative café. Friday, we will celebrate its first anniversary.
The crazy idea came to mind in March 2023: no bistro in Pavie for almost 15 years, it couldn’t last! A small group got down to the task and the adventure began. First, it was necessary to find a location, negotiate with associations, request authorizations from the town hall, draw up statutes, declare the association to the department, find furniture, build a bar, approach beer suppliers, promote local producers (cheese from Georges, bread and charcuterie from Pavie’s merchants)… Three months later, thanks to the unfailing collaboration of Jean-Michel Blay and his entire municipal team, around 300 people gathered under the plane trees for the official opening of the Café de la Guérite.
An event in the landscape! The success was immediate, helped by the beautiful summer days and attendance exceeded all forecasts. For some Pavians, Friday evening has become an essential ritual; from 6:30 p.m., they are seated around a drink, a pizza or a piece of sausage.
Finding conviviality, sharing, living together, this is what this project has succeeded in establishing. Once the euphoria of the novelty had passed, we had to hold on and get through the winter. So ideas and animation proposals flooded in. We played tarot, belote. We sang karaoke, we ate crepes at Candlemas, we roasted chestnuts in the fall, we tasted Beaujolais in November. Singers came to make us forget the cold winter weather. Muraro made us dance until late at night to the wild rhythms of Techno. Conferences were organized.
