In 2025, before the BMW i3 sedan, the iX3 electric SUV will inaugurate the Neue Klasse technical platform. No more speculation, here are the final lines of the production iX3.
The BMW Vision Neue Klasse X concept car presented last March and then exhibited at the Paris Motor Show will serve as the basis for the future BMW iX3 expected in 2025. No more speculation on what will change between the show prototype and the production model, here are already the final lines of the second generation BMW iX3.
Indeed, the property patents have leaked onto the web. The general spirit is obviously preserved, manufacturers cannot afford to make false promises, however the differences are not limited to the addition of a pair of exterior mirrors and the reduction in the diameter of the rims.
The Neue Klasse
The appearance of the production vehicle seems to have changed, but be careful, on its orthonormal views, the deformation of the volumes is noticeable. In profile, the machine looks more like a station wagon or a crossover than an SUV. A small touch of originality, a boomerang – already present on the concept – adorns the quarter window on which the iX3 logo will most likely appear in the style of the BMW 5 Series bearing the number “5” here.
In terms of differences, the concept’s door handles characterized by paddles located at the level of the windows have been replaced by motorized flush models promoting aerodynamics and de facto autonomy. The design of the stern will also remain faithful to the aesthetic theme initiated by the concept, BMW having not given in and this is all the better for the fashion of the light strip between the lights.
800 km of range
On a technical level, the Neue Klasse base will benefit from 800V technology and will allow the choice, depending on the version, between one or two electric machines with powers between 300 and 600 hp. The big news will be the introduction of a new generation of batteries promising a 20% increase in energy density and a 30% improvement in charging speed and autonomy.
The result is a real benefit for the customer that we will not fail to verify during our approved measurements. BMW already promises a range of 800 km on a single charge, but not sure that this optimistic value corresponds to the BMW iX3, it could be more for a larger model such as the future BMW iX5.
Following on from the BMW iX3, the Munich brand will follow up with the BMW i3 sedan in 2026.
