Rail traffic on the Lausanne-Brig line “is restricted between Roche VD and Aigle”, indicated the CFF this Wednesday morning. In fact, trains from Montreux do not leave for Geneva, for example. The lines concerned are EC, IR, IR90, RE, RE33, R3 and R4.
The problem is due to “a train blocking the track”. “Delays and cancellations are to be expected,” note the CFF, which indicates that the disruption could last until around 8 a.m.
On Monday, the Lausanne-Geneva line was interrupted from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., completely, due to “exceptional work” at Renens station.
A big interruption at the end of the week for transit to Geneva
At the end of the week, we will have to count on a major interruption of service between Nyon and Geneva. The commissioning of a new interlock in Geneva will cause a line cut from Saturday 7 p.m. to Sunday 3 p.m. A replacement system by buses, coaches and trams will be put in place, but it will be necessary to take into account extended travel times.
For people going to the airport, trains will stop at Nyon. The connection will be made with a direct bus, the ATS news agency reported. You should allow around thirty minutes more for this journey, warn the CFF. More than 70 customer assistants will be present in stations to help travelers.
For passengers coming from Annemasse and heading to the airport, Léman Express trains will stop at Lancy Pont-Rouge. They will have to continue their journey with tram 15 to Cornavin station, then take bus line 5. These two lines will be reinforced during the weekend. Furthermore, TER traffic of the SNCF as well as the TGV Lyria will be interrupted between Geneva and Bellegarde. Alternative transport will be provided by bus.
