Some 50,000 workers in the cleaning sector (CP 121) will also see their salaries increase by 2.32% on this date.

Since this Thursday, the smoothed health index for June has been known. The latter serves as the basis for wage indexation in a number of important private sectors, including metallurgy and cleaning.

The metallurgy sector is one of the large sectors of our country, with more than 110,000 workers (CP 111) and 70,000 employees (CP 209), or just over 180,000 workers and more than 9,400 employers. Their salaries are indexed once a year, in July, and will see an increase of 3.34% this year.

By increasing the gross minimum wage by €730 to €2,800 as the PS wants, the employee would only get back… €187 net in their pocket!

The cleaning sector had more than 50,000 workers and 2,444 employers at the end of 2023. In January 2024, these salaries had been indexed by 0.93%. Within this joint commission, salaries are indexed every six months, in January and July. On July 1, they will be increased by 2.32%.

For the 500,000 employees of the CP 200, the annual indexation planned for next January should reach 3.78%, more than double last year, according to forecasts from SD Worx. These employees are active in the sectors of road transport, agriculture and horticulture, the food industry, the hospitality sector, as well as in the trade of food products.

For sectors which are indexed by a fixed percentage (often 2%), after having exceeded a so-called “pivot” index, SD Worx plans a new salary increase on October 1st.
