Realwear acquires the Swiss augmented reality start-up Almer Technologies, with the financial support of Teamviewer. The new owners want to launch Almer’s data glasses on the global market.

The American company Realwear has acquired the Bernese start-up Almer Technologies, specializing in augmented reality (AR). Teamviewer also takes a stake in Almer. The German provider of remote maintenance software provides financial and strategic support for this acquisition, we can read in a joint press release from the companies. They do not reveal the amount of the transaction. The goal is to commercialize Almer’s technology worldwide.

Almer develops augmented reality headsets for companies in the industrial sector. In October 2022, the start-up launched mass production of its data glasses. And last June, Almer launched a new version of its headset – including AI assistants for logistics and manufacturing. Earlier this year, Almer entered into a partnership with Teamviewer.

“I am very pleased to welcome Almer and its founders Timon Binder and Sebastian Beetschen to the Realwear management team. As an integral part of the Realwear ecosystem, customers can now benefit from Almer’s innovative technology on a global scale. Almer’s subscription model perfectly complements our existing portfolio by offering our partners and customers more flexible and scalable solutions,” said Chris Parkinson, CEO of Realwear.
