a kitty launched for the homeless man who had returned 2,000 euros found on a train

Hadjer Al-Ali’s honesty extended beyond the borders of the Netherlands, but the reward did not necessarily match his good deed. After returning a wallet forgotten on a train at Amsterdam Central Station and which contained 2,000 euros in cash, this 33-year-old homeless man was rewarded by the police with a simple voucher for… . 50 euros.

An online prize pool was therefore launched on the gofundme site on Monday to achieve a more substantial reward. He himself launched this campaign after receiving a lot of requests on this subject, he explained to RTL Nieuws.

In the space of 24 hours, a little more than 34,000 euros were collected through this means, with some donations even amounting to several hundred euros.

“I always believe that something good comes from a good deed, that’s how I approach life. But I could never have imagined this,” reacted Hadjer Al-Ali.

The homeless man also said he had received numerous messages from people who offered him a job.

Job offers offered

Father of two children aged 5 and 6 and homeless for a year and a half, Hadjer Al-Ali told RTL Nieuws that he would contact a real estate agent who could help him find accommodation to rent as soon as he will have received the money raised through the kitty.

The 34,000 euros raised thanks to this jackpot could be accompanied by a bonus. As the wallet found by Hadjer Al-Ali did not contain the slightest piece of identity, nothing made it possible to find the owner of the 2,000 euros found. This sum will return to the benefactor if no one comes to claim the money within a year.
