The Banque cantonale du Jura (BCJ) pulls the plug and closes four subsidiaries after recent robberies. It also announces new security measures.

Following several robberies, the Banque cantonale du Jura (BCJ) has decided to permanently close four of its subsidiaries. From July 22, the Courgenay and Courrendlin branches will be closed, the banking establishment indicated Monday evening.

Those of Alle and Noirmont, which had been robbed with explosives in May, will not be reopened. To compensate for these closures, four ATMs will be installed in these villages, elsewhere than in residential buildings. In addition, additional security measures have been taken for all other subsidiaries, the institute further specifies.

A month ago, the bank announced the closure, “until further notice”, of several branches and ATMs following explosive robberies.

Such measures were also announced at the end of May by the Banque cantonale neuchâteloise (BCN). After the explosive attack on one of its ATMs in La Brévine (NE), the establishment notably put its ATMs closest to the border with France out of service. (sda/ats/awp)
