Air France still in the Top 10

2024 marks the 25th anniversary of this ceremony, often considered the “Oscars of the aviation industry.” Since 1999, the independent British organization Skytrax has established an annual global ranking of the best airlines. More than 100 nationalities of customers participated in this new survey, making it the largest in the world in terms of air passenger satisfaction. More than 80 prizes were awarded, including the best airline in the world, the ranking of the 100 best airlines, the best cabin crew, the best first class, the best business class, the best economy class and the best low cost of the world…

A unique methodology in the world

The world’s largest annual air passenger satisfaction survey is not limited to member airlines or a predetermined choice, any airline in the world can be nominated. To compile this unprecedented list, more than 20 million passengers were surveyed over nine months, from September 2023 to May 2024. Customers had to answer multiple questions relating to their trip: value for money, quality of cabin service, quality of flight (seat comfort, quality of meals, choice of entertainment programs, cabin cleanliness, Wi-Fi and connectivity, etc.), pre- and post-flight experience (ease of booking online, waiting time at check-in, baggage delivery, etc.). The objective of the survey (available in English, French, Spanish, Chinese, Russian and Japanese), is above all to allow passengers to make their own choices as to which airline they consider to be the best. Finally, data weighting was applied to ensure fairness when evaluating airlines of different sizes, since there were 350 this year. The winners of the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2024 were revealed at Fairmont Windsor Park, an iconic address located on the edge of the historic Windsor Great Park, in England.

Qatar Airways crowned best company in the world for the eighth time

After holding first place for seven years over the last thirteen years, having been demoted to second place in 2023, Qatar Airways takes back the gold medal this year Singapore Airlines, winner last year. The national airline of Singapore climbs onto the second step of the podium. The top of the list is still dominated by companies from Asia and the Gulf, with the consecration ofEmirates (3e), ANA All Nippon Airways (4th) and Cathay Pacific Airways (5e).

In addition to being named the Best Global Airline 2024, Qatar Airways also won the Best Global Business Class, Best Global Business Class Lounge and Best Middle East Airline awards.

Three awards for Air France

Air France moved back two places, going from 7th to 9th place. However, it is the best European company in the world ranking, just ahead Swiss International Air Lines, arriving in 10th position. Thanks to its move upmarket over the past two years, Air France (ranked 2nd for the best first class cabins) has also obtained three other awards: that of the best first class catering in the world, that of the best lounge restaurant in first class (CDG) and, as in 2023, first place in the “Western Europe” category.

Finally, the Spanish airline, Volotea, received the award for the best low-cost airline in Europe, a great achievement in such a competitive low-cost airline market. Last joke?Transavia France (Air France-KLM group) ranked second in Europe, and Vueling climbed to third place.
