Minor Hotels, a global hotel owner and operator, is opening two properties in Sri Lanka, marking the introduction of its NH Collection Hotels & Resorts and NH Hotels & Resorts brands to the country.

Minor Hotels will manage the two properties, one in the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo and the other in the beach town of Bentota, following an agreement with Softlogic Holdings, the owners of the properties.

NH Collection Colombo

The NH Collection Colombo hotel opened its doors on 1er June in the heart of the city, a short walk from Liberty Arcade and the Indian Ocean, and a 10-minute drive from the National Museum, Independence Square and Pettah Market. Sri Lanka’s main airport, Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB), is a 45-minute drive from the property. This five-star hotel has 219 rooms and suites, ranging in size from 33 to 254 m², including the largest, the presidential suite. All rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows offering stunning views of the Indian Ocean or the city.

NH Collection Colombo has six restaurants offering authentic flavors, including all-day international restaurants, Indian, Thai and Japanese specialty restaurants, a rooftop with panoramic ocean views at sunset, and a cafe and lounge located in the hotel lobby. For business and events, the hotel offers modern meeting and event spaces for up to 200 people in two banquet rooms, five boardrooms and a conference room. Wellness facilities at NH Collection Colombo include a state-of-the-art gym, rooftop infinity pool and spa.

90 minutes south of Colombo on the west coast of the island, NH Bentota Ceysands Resort is located between the Bentota River and the Indian Ocean. The 166-key property, scheduled to open on 1er July, includes rooms and suites from 37 to 139 square meters.

NH Bentota features a large swimming pool with stunning ocean views, a water sports center, a spa and a kid’s club. Guests can dine at one of the property’s five restaurants and bars, including an all-day international restaurant, specialty Thai and seafood restaurants, a light-dining café, and the pool bar .

Sri Lankan tourism has seen an impressive rebound in 2023, having more than doubled its arrivals last year. This dynamic gate has continued in the first quarter of this year, and arrivals are expected to exceed pre-pandemic levels and reach, or even exceed, the record level of 2018. We are delighted to be part of this recovery and we are looking forward to capitalizing on pent-up demand with our partner Softlogic Holdings through these new NH Collection and NH properties. – Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels and CEO of Minor International
