Since his appointment on May 30, Dahirou Thiam, new director general of ARTP (Telecommunications and Postal Regulatory Authority), has undertaken a series of courtesy visits to telecommunications operators this Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

During this tour, the general director and his colleagues visited the headquarters of Promobile, Expresso, Sonatel, Free as well as the Internet service provider WAW. These meetings allowed sector players and the ARTP team to discuss the major challenges and user expectations.

Following these visits, Dahirou Thiam announced the upcoming holding of working sessions with operators, as well as the organization of a major day on telecommunications. This event aims to review all issues in the sector in a spirit of co-construction and collaborative regulation.

The Director General expressed his awareness of the strategic importance of regulation for the socio-economic development of Senegal. He is committed to carrying out this mission with integrity, dedication and excellence, in close collaboration with all stakeholders.

It is also important to remember that the new Senegalese authorities, under the leadership of Bassirou Diomaye Faye, have made reducing the cost of Internet connection a priority. Despite the first reductions made by Expresso and Orange on certain products, the population continues to demand prices more in line with the per capita income of the Senegalese.
