ROK supports medical equipment exporters in Vietnam

Eighty-four South Korean medical equipment companies conducted 501 business consultations with 306 Vietnamese customers, generating an estimated value of USD 91 million, at the K-Med Expo Vietnam & Saigon International Meditech exhibition. Show 2024″ which was held on June 13 and 14 in Ho Chi Minh City.

This information was communicated on June 17 by the South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) and the Republic of Korea Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) .

This is the second consecutive year that the K-Med exhibition is organized in Vietnam by the Republic of Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX) and the South Korean Medical Device Industry Association ( KMDIA).

Vietnamese partners have shown particular interest in areas such as dentistry, diagnostic imaging and skin care. Consultations on medical equipment related to cosmetic procedures in obstetrics and gynecology aroused keen interest, given that half of the Vietnamese population is under 35 years old.

Participants also attended presentations and academic seminars, particularly in digital health, an emerging area for South Korean medical device companies.

KOTRA President Yoo Jeong-yeol affirmed that Vietnam’s medical equipment market is growing, which provides great opportunities for cooperation in the health sector between the two countries. KOTRA will continue to expand its promotional activities through cooperation with various ministries and organizations, to make medical equipment a new engine of export growth for the Republic of Korea.

The Republic of Korea is on the 6th^e equipment supplier from Vietnam, and opportunities for this country’s medical equipment and domestic companies to enter the Southeast Asian market are expected to continue to increase.

KOTRA is establishing K-Bio Desk offices in seven regions, including Ho Chi Minh City, to support the export sites of South Korean biomedical companies, he added.
