The great sacking of our inhabited territory!

The great sacking of our inhabited territory!
The great sacking of our inhabited territory!

It is disconcerting to witness numerous political decisions that seem taken with a vision of the past century and which have the power to devastate a large part of our collective heritage in a few years.

It is not very visionary to imitate the time when governments sought by all means to attract large industries. Current leaders achieve this goal by selling our energy at a price much lower than what they pay to new energy developers.

He will then pass the bill on to citizens and small businesses. These big companies will soon reduce their jobs by using more and more robots. We will then have all the disadvantages of these energy-intensive and polluting companies without gaining many advantages.

Quality of life

The construction of gigantic industrial wind turbines, which will disfigure our landscapes, will also lead to a significant deterioration in our quality of life. It is truly unfortunate that the numerous testimonies related to health problems increasingly recorded around the planet are not seriously examined. The green slogans of this lucrative industry ring more and more false.

Furthermore, we can deplore the fact that the INSPQ barely addresses the problem of ultrasound when it seems to cause so many disruptions to health and clearly represents the elephant in the room.

Currently, the government is turning a deaf ear to citizens’ concerns and seeking to impose its decisions. He is in a big hurry. The principle of social acceptability is so diluted that it has become an illusion.

Faced with climate change, how can we not oppose a government that displays a business-driven vision rather than consulting the population and independent experts to design a collective choice for society? These leaders do not seem aware of the rapid destruction of our quality of life, our environment, the management of our territory and also of compromising human and animal health.

Less populated areas

The majority of the population resides in a very small portion of Quebec territory while most of it is very sparsely inhabited. Our agricultural space can only count on 2% of its surface area. Why not try to plan a better structured energy network in areas that would affect far fewer citizens and where it would be easier to generously compensate the few residents?

This would avoid building numerous transport lines in heavily populated areas, with all the disadvantages that this entails for the population. Studies have already shown that we could, in addition to taking advantage of its transportation corridor, produce around hydroelectric basins nine times more electricity than Quebec would need in the next ten years.

The obligation to protect our agricultural territory has already resulted in depriving our rural regions of great human potential. The result was the closure of several schools and businesses in small municipalities. The choice to invade these same territories with gigantic wind turbines will create even more obstacles to the future development of our regions. Many areas becoming uninhabitable or undesirable places will multiply, leading to conflicts between neighbors and harming the arrival of new arrivals.

The precautionary principle advises us to slow down and imagine a societal choice much less based on excessive consumption and production. Let’s stop destroying our territory!
