Thales presents OpenDRobotics and opens the way to extended collaborative combat thanks to AI

06/17/2024

  • Thales launches OpenDRobotics, a revolutionary solution bringing together robotic and air-land drone capabilities in a human-centered mission system.

  • Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming collaborative combat by integrating multi-drone and multi-robot systems, increasing their autonomy and reducing the cognitive load on soldiers.

  • The result of close cooperation with the armed forces, OpenDRobotics relies on an ecosystem of partners in order to effectively respond to the challenges of high-intensity conflicts.

With OpenDRobotics, Thales is revolutionizing collaborative combat by developing an integrated system of heterogeneous robotic and drone capabilities within an automated mission.

Recent conflicts have demonstrated the contribution of drones and robots to help armed forces see better and act more quickly, with greater efficiency, while protecting men. Their use also makes it possible to saturate the enemy, without increasing the number or the mental load of the operators.

A key player in collaborative combat, Thales provides mission systems for the engagement of networked units, AI modules, means of communication and a unique capacity for integrating drones and robots with the army’s conventional means. earthen.

Capitalizing on the CohoMa II success1, the OpenDRobotics initiative promotes and orchestrates a varied range of drones and robots. It notably provides functions of Command and Control (C2) and extended collaborative combat, capitalizing on long experience in tactical mission systems, deployed in particular as part of the Scorpion program.

Thales OpenDRobotics is at the heart of a wide range of Forces missions: reconnaissance, intelligence, fight against nuclear, radiological, biological and chemical threats, special forces, cavalry, artillery.

OpenDRobotics relies on the ROS (Robot Operating System) and STANAG 4586 standards, widely used by NATO, which allow it to easily integrate drones and robots from partners and other companies.

“We are proud to present OpenDRobotics, a comprehensive offering that will accelerate the integration of drones and robots into land combat. Capitalizing on the Scorpion program and the deployment of collaborative combat, Thales allows forces to coordinate a large number of autonomous systems to carry out missions quickly and safely. » says Arnaud Lacaze, Vice President of Defense Command Systems, Thales.
