Smart is preparing to launch the third model in the range. The image of the small city car has already exploded and it’s not over yet. Always higher, always bigger, here is a 4.70 m long SUV.
Taken over by the Chinese Geely, the Smart brand has clearly changed dimension. Smart #1 and #3 largely set the tone, the new SUV #5 drives the point home. A model that the brand did not hesitate to showcase in the form of a real 4×4 concept at the last Beijing show.
Here are now the first photos of the production model, as always thanks to publications from the Chinese Ministry of Industry. In four different colors. The concept did not mask much of the style of this SUV, now stripped of its most extreme attributes. However, a wide range of accessories seems planned in this off-road spirit.

A large 4.70 meter SUV, which will be based on an evolution of the platform of previous models, equipped with 800V batteries. For the moment, no details regarding battery capacities or autonomy. The high version would have a 100 kWh battery for a range of more than 700 km in CLTC (more than 550 km WLTP).

Smart insists on the charging speed in 4C (charging power equal to 4 times the battery capacity). The engine powers are already known. Two rear-wheel drive versions, with 250 or 267 kW motors, and two others in dual motor configuration: 432 or 475 kW. The ultimate corresponding to the Brabus version.
Smart #5 will be officially presented in a few weeks, and will be marketed in China and Europe before the end of the year.
