While all observers expected it as the stricto sensu production version of the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X concept, the new BMW X3 will be more of a transition model. Understand by this that its muzzle will take up the themes of the X1 and the XM. The proof is this almost official image.

BMW would have done without this leak on the web. Indeed, this image which seems taken from an advertising spot still under the seal of secrecy reveals the entire snout and sides of the next version of the BMW X3 which will not be made official until next fall with probably a first crowd bath at the Paris Motor Show.

A little Vision Neue Klasse X but not too much

Unsurprisingly, the lines of the premium SUV rival of the Audi Q5 and Mercedes GLC take up the theme started by the Neue Klasse concept and even better that of the BMW Vision Neue Klasse. With the difference, and not the least, that the grille has not yet completely switched to horizontality with small narrow and vertical beans. No, on the contrary, through its octagonal contours it provides a link with the SUVs in the range and particularly through the shape of its shield with its little brother the BMW X1. However, the new X3 displays a transitional design with originality-arranged stripes in its nostrils.

At first glance this may bring to mind the striped costumes of gangsters from the 1930s, we also think of Alain Delon’s outfit in the film Borsalino. But the Swedish PC brand Fractal Design would also be entitled to legitimately request royalties from BMW which stole the design of its tower called Torrent.

Sides like BMW iX…

The curved sides are in the vein of those of the big brother BMW iX and for the aerodynamics of the flush door handles. We also note on the front wing the access hatch for the plug-in hybrid version. Unless it is the BMW iX3, the 100% electric version. On this unique low angle view, it is not easy to distinguish the interior furniture and in particular to know if following the promise of the Vision Neue Klasse scattered, a guarantee of ambient minimalism.

Or if it will persist in the view of the curved panoramic screen currently specific to all the brand’s models. This second hypothesis seems the most credible, our scoop hunters have unearthed a BMW X3 G97 prototype equipped in this way.
