Trend Micro Report Reveals Over 52 Million Cyber Threats Blocked in 2023

According to Trend Micro’s 2023 Annual Digital Security Report, more than 52 million cyber threats were detected and blocked in Morocco last year. This figure comes against a global backdrop where the company managed to stop more than 161 billion threats, marking an increase of 10% compared to the previous year.

This report details Trend Micro’s achievements in Morocco. The company effectively detected and blocked these threats, reflecting its critical role in the country’s cybersecurity.

Assad Arabi, Managing Director for Africa and Emerging Markets at Trend Micro, emphasized that in cybersecurity, a breach is not always a disaster; it is the response that can transform an incident into a major challenge or crisis. He added that Trend Micro helps organizations stay ahead of cyber threats through the adoption of the latest solutions, including the integration of artificial intelligence.

Globally, Trend Micro welcomes a significant increase in blocked threats. The report warns against the use of increasingly sophisticated techniques by attackers aimed at achieving higher financial gains by targeting fewer victims.

In Morocco, Trend Micro’s efforts are focused on several fronts. The company claims to have prevented more than 40 million email threats and blocked more than 1.6 million attacks via compromising URLs. Additionally, it has identified and stopped more than 3.7 million malware attacks.

The annual report also revealed a 349% increase in email malware detections globally, while detections of malicious URLs and phishing attempts decreased by 27%. Access to cloud applications poses the greatest risk, with nearly 83 billion access attempts recorded by Trend’s Attack Surface Risk Management (ASRM).
