After the Q6 SUV, the sedan. The A6 e-tron has already arrived in France and its prices are known. But Audi announces new, cheaper versions. It will especially be its monthly rental payments that will make the difference, or not, compared to a Mercedes EQE and especially the latest BMW i5.
PPE platform, act 3. After the electric Porsche Macan and the Q6 e-tron, here is the third iteration of the new technical base of the Volkswagen group which is used for 100% electric high-end models with the A6 e-tron. With the presentation behind us, it is now up to the Audi France sales teams to get busy to compete with the BMW i5 which also recently entered France. The match promises to be close, especially since these vehicles are primarily purchased by companies and professionals.
And for the moment, we cannot say that these “pro” registrations (more than 50% of new vehicles in France, all the same) are really “electric” oriented.. The cake is therefore still thin and we will have to bring out the arguments to seduce buyers not to go to BMW and Mercedes. Audi is already announcing the first rents, since these sedans will mainly be acquired on a rental basis. And after the arrival of the first versions a month ago, here is the arrival of a new version with a smaller battery, as well as a Quattro under the S6.
A more accessible electric Audi A6
Audi is already announcing a rent: €870/month on a 37-month contract and 30,000 km annually… without contribution. This will be on the Avant station wagon version in S-Line finish and rear-wheel drive. An offer that could appeal to professionals, especially since these deflated variants of the first A6 e-tron launched on the French market retain very fast charging at 225 kW, a particularity of the PPE platform wired at 800V. Audi announces 260 km of autonomy recovered in just 10 minutes on the most efficient direct current terminals.
This less expensive A6 will therefore be able to travel just as well as the rest of the A6 e-tron catalog, even if the battery capacity drops: 83 kWh compared to 100 kWh for the most high-end A6 e-tron. The range therefore increases to 622 km on the Sportback e-tron and, surprisingly, 30 km less on the station wagon which is usually more efficient than the sedan. This time, the Sportback creates less aero turbulence than the station wagon.
The two new versions are therefore rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The first displays 285 hp on the rear wheels and 7 seconds to pass 100 km/h. The second, in Quattro, develops 428 hp and goes from 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds. However, it keeps the large 100 kWh battery which gives it a range of 711 km in a sedan and 679 km in a station wagon. The respective prices are €66,420 (€67,920 in Avant station wagon) and €84,320 (€85,820 in Avant station wagon). It’s still €10,000 less at the entry level than a 340 hp BMW i5 eDrive40, which has a range of 582 km.. The A6 e-tron is therefore in the right place for the moment.
