The OCP group, world leader in phosphate fertilizers, has just concluded a major agreement with the German Development and Investment Bank (Kreditanstaltfür Wiederaufbau – KfW), involving financing of 200 million euros. Signed in Frankfurt, this convention is part of a strategic approach aimed at strengthening global food security while combating climate change. The OCP group declared that this green financing is an essential pillar of its sustainable investment strategy for the period 2023-2027.

Karim Lotfi Senhadji, Chief Financial Officer of OCP Group, welcomed the agreement, saying: “We are delighted to announce this important step in our journey towards a sustainable future. This agreement with KfW not only represents an essential contribution to our ambitious green investment strategy, but it also demonstrates that stakeholders and investors have confidence in the OCP Group, our business model and our financial strength to achieve our objectives. common”.

The 200 million euros in funding from KfW will directly contribute to the OCP group’s vast green investment strategy, estimated at $13 billion. This funding will be distributed strategically: 150 million euros will be allocated to the exclusive use of unconventional waters in industrial operations by 2024, while the remaining 50 million will help achieve the objectives of using 100% of clean energy by 2027. In addition, the OCP group aims for complete carbon neutrality for scopes 1 and 2 in 2030, and for scope 3 in 2040.

OCP Group’s strategy also includes a massive $7 billion investment in the production of green hydrogen and green ammonia, primarily using wind and solar energy. The objective is to reach a production of one million tonnes per year by 2027. This production will not only be intended for fertilizers, but also to support the development of other green industries in Morocco.

This initiative is part of a context where Morocco is strengthening its efforts to become a key player in the aeronautical industry and in the production of sustainable technologies. The Moroccan government recently approved draft decrees setting design and production standards in several industrial sectors, underscoring the country’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.
