A total of 51 motorists submitted complaints after filling up with diesel instead of regular gasoline in Compton last month.

By email, the Sonic distributor confirmed that there was a mix-up of products at the Le Relais station in the Compton area. During delivery, the diesel was mistakenly emptied into the regular unleaded petrol pump, the company’s investigation revealed.

The company says that to date, everyone who has made a complaint has received a response.

Sonic refuses to give details of the amounts out of concern for confidentiality.
