On the sidelines of the second edition of Gitex Africa 2024, the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) sealed two partnership agreements with inwi and the National Ports Agency (ANP). Aiming to promote innovative entrepreneurship during Gitex Africa 2024, the first collaboration agreement concluded between inwi and UM6P University marks a new stage in the collaboration of the two entities by creating new synergies between the private sector and the community. academic. It aims to promote innovative entrepreneurship and support promising digital startups.

Through this collaboration, inwi and UM6P are committed to combining their expertise and resources to contribute to the development of an ecosystem favorable to innovation and the growth of young digital companies. This collaboration agreement concerns the development of a support and acceleration program for startup projects winning the inwi Days Awards competition.

This program would make it possible to identify, engage and support entrepreneurial talents and innovative projects around several key themes, in particular, sportech, customer experience, fintech, retailtech, as well as artificial intelligence. In addition, this initiative aims to create a national center of excellence in the field of support and acceleration of promising startups.

Still within the framework of this convention, the 12th edition of inwiDays, an unmissable event for entrepreneurship and innovation, will be held this year within the UM6P at the Benguerir campus, on June 25, 2024. This event will bring together entrepreneurs, experts and key players in the entrepreneurial ecosystem to exchange and share innovative ideas around the theme of “sportech”.

Accelerate the modernization of Moroccan ports
As for the second agreement signed between the ANP, Portnet and the UM6P in the field of scientific research and technological development, it aims to stimulate innovation, research and technological development at the service of communities in the port sector and foreign trade players.

This collaboration is part of the “Smart Port Innovation” approach, launched since October 2023 by the ANP and Portnet in partnership with UM6P. The objective of this agreement is to create an intelligent and sustainable port environment by integrating the latest technologies and innovative practices to accelerate the modernization of Moroccan ports.

This initiative aims to improve their efficiency by using cutting-edge technologies, such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT) and blockchain, to support business competitiveness. The three institutions agree to the establishment of a global agreement relating to the strengthening of collaborative innovation in order to encourage cooperation between port, academic and technological stakeholders to create an innovative and dynamic ecosystem.

It also involves developing advanced technological solutions while setting up pilot projects integrating cutting-edge technologies to improve the efficiency, safety and sustainability of port operations as well as training and research through the promotion of applied research and specialized training to develop cutting-edge skills adapted to the needs of the port sector of tomorrow. In addition, the ANP, Portnet and UM6P are committed to supporting startups, promoting innovation, facilitating access to financing and organizing strategic events to boost the port sector.

Additionally, they plan to implement continuing education and professional development programs for industry players. This new collaboration illustrates the commitment of the three parties to excellence and innovation for the port development of Morocco. By pooling their efforts and resources, they aspire to create a more dynamic and competitive port ecosystem to meet the challenges and seize the opportunities of the new global environment.
