Cryptocurrencies continue to become more popular and more and more companies are developing solutions to make payments.

For its 8th edition, the Vivatech show, which took place from May 22 to 25 at Porte de Versailles in Paris, was full of new products, including in the field of cryptocurrency. More and more companies are offering payment solutions for merchants and customers with cryptocurrencies, thanks to innovative systems.

On the Lunu stand, a banking terminal catches the eye. “It’s a system based on the Android system,” explains Vadim Grigoryan, Lunu’s chief marketing officer. This glass and chrome terminal allows you to use cryptocurrencies for a transaction. When paying, the consumer just has to choose the account with which they wish to pay (Binance, Coinbase, Trust… more than 70 wallets are listed on the terminal). “These transactions take no longer than typical credit card transactions,” the company says.

The terminal is intended to be easy and ergonomic but only payment via a QR code is possible at the moment. Although the price of bitcoin or another cryptocurrency is volatile, it is the price of the cryptocurrency at the time of the transaction that is taken into account (as well as any exchange rate).

Arrival of Ledger Stax by the end of 2024

A few meters away, Ledger, one of the pillars of the cryptocurrency sector in France, is highlighting its next product: the Ledger Stax. This new wallet, equipped with a curved touchscreen the size of a credit card, offers its holders the possibility of using their cryptos and NFTs daily. The commercialization of the product is planned from the second half of this year.

Lyzi is also part of the desire to democratize crypto payments. The company has also signed a partnership with Apsy shopping centers. This allows, for example, customers of the Beaugrenelle shopping center in the 15th arrondissement of Paris to use their cryptocurrencies to pay for their gift cards. These can be used in all shops and restaurants. On the Lyzi website, it is specified that you must “download the application and create a user account”. You can then indicate the amount in euros on the application you want and the equivalence in cryptocurrencies is displayed on the screen and generates a QR code. The partner merchant only has to scan the QR code to validate the transaction and be paid in euros.

According to a study by Adan (the association for the development of digital assets) published last March, 12% of French people currently hold cryptocurrencies and 15% have already held them.
