Repeated accidents and incidents, strikes, upcoming layoffs… The American aircraft manufacturer has plunged into a serious industrial and reputational crisis. How did we get there?
Massive layoffs to come (17,000 jobs), a strike lasting more than a month which shuts down factories, mid-flight incidents and two crashes killing 346 people: Boeing is experiencing the most serious crisis in its history .
The legendary American aircraft manufacturer, an industrial juggernaut, is a key player in civil aviation, defense and space. Nearly one in two planes in the world comes from Boeing factories, which also manufacture Air Force One, the plane of the President of the United States.
But now, some pilots and many passengers are boarding backwards. Astronauts were even stranded in orbit because the Boeing shuttle that was supposed to bring them back to earth experienced malfunctions.
How can this giant which changed the history of aviation, renowned for its reliability, now arouse so much concern and mistrust? How could this company, which was the pride of Americans, end up in a nightmare?
