The Paris Motor Show opens its doors this Monday in Paris to revive a sector that is slipping

The Motor Show opens its doors this Monday at Porte de in Paris. More than 400 exhibitors, 30 manufacturers and 48 brands will be present to try to relaunch an industry in decline in . The new car market is at a standstill, with a fifth consecutive month of decline in September and marked declines for French manufacturers Stellantis and Renault.

New electric models are eagerly awaited, such as the Renault 4 and 5, the C3 Aircross or the Peugeot E-408, E3008, supposed to relaunch the electric market which is slipping in Europe.

The slowdown of electricity

The electric car market, supported for several years by an ecological bonus on purchase, exploded from 2021 before slow down since spring 2024at 17% market share over the first nine months of the year. Diesel cars still represent the majority of cars driving in France, even if this share decreases year after year.

While the French government announced an increase in penalties on petrol and diesel carswhich enrages the sector, Emmanuel Macron is expected at the show on Monday afternoon, after having received the leaders of the sector for dinner on Sunday evening. “This visit will be an opportunity to show support for the sector, in particular for innovation and production, in line with the objectives of the France 2030 plan as well as the European objectives of the sector, resolutely focused on electrification“, indicated the Élysée on Sunday evening.

The show expects to attract 500,000 visitorswith tickets from 18 to 22 euros entry depending on the day.
