Barely available in dealerships, the Renault 5 E-Tech is causing a sensation. As figures from AAA Data indicate, this new arrival on the electric city car market is already in the top 5 of automobile sales for the month of September 2024.

The Renault 5 E-Tech makes a remarkable entry into the top 5 sales

From its first month in dealership, the Renault 5 E-Tech found its audience. With 1,101 copies sold in September 2024 according to figures from AAA Data, it already ranks among the most popular electric cars in , i.e. 5e position of the ranking, behind well-established models like the Tesla Model Y, leader with 4,500 units sold, the Citroën ë-C3, which recorded 3,626 sales, the Peugeot e-208 with 1,420 units sold and finally the electric Renault Scénic (1,364 sales).

The enthusiasm around this model can be explained by several factors. On the one hand, the name “Renault 5” evokes a nostalgia that appeals to drivers, on the other hand, Renault has been able to modernize this model with current technologies while remaining competitive on price. Priced at around 25,000 for its entry-level Five version and at 35,490 euros for its Premium Iconiq Cinq version (excluding ecological bonus).

The manufacturer asserts its position on the electric market

Renault is performing well in the electric segment with several well-placed models. In addition to the Renault 5 E-Tech, the French brand can count on the success of the electric Mégane, the third best-selling model of the year with 14,259 units sold, as well as its electric Twingo, which exceeds the 10,000 units in 2024. In the top 5 sales for the month of September 2024 also includes its electric Scénic which is in 4th position in sales.

With the addition of the Renault 5 E-Tech, Renault’s electric range is expanding and the brand is proving that it has all the cards in hand to continue to compete with the big names on the market. This fanfare start suggests a bright future for the Renault 5 E-Tech, which already seems destined for a place of choice among the essential electric city cars.
